Vitality Lab

"Without vitality forms actions would be performed mechanically, making humans similar to robots"

Human actions are defined by two key aspects: content and form. For instance, one can offer a packet of crackers either rudely or gently, just as a handshake can be given coldly or warmly. These variations in action style were termed vitality forms by Daniel Stern. Our previous studies have shown that the dorso-central insula and the middle cingulate cortex (MCC) play a crucial role in both the observation and execution of vitality forms.
